Voice Tips

To improve a high-pitched voice, try and resonate the sound through the palate just behind the top teeth. Hum low-pitched and high-pitched and note where the sound is being resonated.

To improve a weak voice, learn to breathe from the diaphragm. Lie on the floor on your back and put a book on your tummy. Breathe out slowly and gently for as long as possible. Then gently allow the breath back in through your nose. As you do so, the book should begin to move upwards. Hold your breath to a count of four and then exhale gently. Repeat the process. The book will rise and fall corresponding to your inhalation and exhalation.

To slow down, visualise the meaning of every word you say. Practise visualising the meaning of each word and you will notice the difference in pace. "I am going to drive home and put the shopping away. Then I will make a cup of tea." It may sound boring to you but others will appreciate being able to keep up with what you are saying.
